Abstract [en]

This trade magazine article discusses the crisis management marketing strategies adopted by Norwegian seafood small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to maintain market outreach in Southeast Asia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data for this article was collected from marketing webinars and website documents between August and December 2020 were analyzed to identify how businesses adapted to disrupted international trade and logistics. Findings revealed four key strategies: targeted regional online marketing campaigns emphasizing brand and country of origin, collaborative digital marketing partnerships with local importers and restaurants, personalized food delivery services including virtual kitchen tours to build consumer trust, and promotional campaigns centered on celebratory home dining occasions. These adaptive strategies demonstrate how perishable seafood businesses innovated their business models to address the challenges of expedient farm-to-fork delivery during lockdowns and travel restrictions. The research suggests that emerging direct-to-consumer business models supporting shorter food supply chains may persist beyond the pandemic as digital solutions become increasingly normalized.
