The capability of optical fibre cables to maintain in function during fire has been examined in this investigation. During fire tests in furnaces different ways of fixing cables, and therefore different mechanical stresses to the cables, have been performed. It is shown that to improve the capability of cables to maintain in function during fire, the fire protection must be put into the construction of the cable.
