The first verification of the Swedish force standard machine, of 6 MN capacity, approved by the Swedish Official Standards Laboratory Organization (SMO), has been carried out in 1982-1983, by means of the 1 MN combined dead-weight-level transmission machine and the so called build up procedure. This report describes the 6 MN force standard system, the verification procedure, and the verification of the instrumentation. It also presents an error calculation and the results obtained during that verification campaign. The aim of the project was to verify the inaccuracy of the force standard machine according to the demands of the law and regulations of the Swedish Official Standards Laboratory Organization. The total inaccuracy of the 6 MN force standard machine was stated by the manufacturer of the machine to 5·10^-4. The result of the verification work shows that the inaccuracy of the force standard machine lies within stated limits.
