Abstract [en]
A microgrid is an independent distribution system that uses renewable energy sources to supply electricity to local loads; the microgrid can be operated entirely in island mode or be intermittently connected to the main grid. Microgrid systems are an option to increase the availability of electricity supply in remote locations. A microgrid should offer acceptable performance and reliability to the end customer whether it is grid-connected or islanded.
